Sacramento, CA [Oct. 9, 2023] – In a bold and flavorful move, the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SACHCC) and Councilmember Karina Talamantes are thrilled to announce the much-anticipated arrival of Sacramento's very own "Taco Plaza" to Northgate Blvd. This exciting development promises to be a culinary and community hub that will not only tantalize taste buds but also drive economic growth and community engagement.

The Taco Plaza, a joint initiative of the Tacos La Piedad, Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Council member Karina Talamantes, the Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association, and the Sacramento Office of Innovation and Economic Development, is poised to transform 2600 Northgate Blvd into a vibrant destination for taco enthusiasts and community members of all stripes.

This project is part of the City of Sacramento's Grant Agreement with Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation for the Northgate Boulevard Business Recovery Program. Atlas Lab, a local Latina-owned small business (WBE, DBE, WOSB, and SBE), completed the Taco Plaza Outdoor Market Concept.

Economic Growth and Prosperity

This endeavor is set to invigorate the local economy by providing a platform for food trucks, street vendors, and neighborhood entrepreneurs to thrive. It will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and offer a boost to businesses in the Northgate Blvd corridor, ultimately strengthening the fabric of our community.

SACHCC President/CEO, Cathy Rodriguez Aguirre, commented on the economic prospects of the Taco Plaza, stating, "We believe that the Taco Plaza will serve as an engine for economic growth in our underinvested corridors. By providing opportunities for local entrepreneurs, we are fostering a dynamic environment where businesses can flourish."

Community at Its Heart

The Taco Plaza will not merely be a gastronomic delight; it will also serve as a gathering place for community members to connect and celebrate their shared heritage. The Plaza will host a variety of cultural events, music festivals, and activities, further strengthening the bonds that unite us.

Council member Karina Talamantes shared her enthusiasm for the project, saying, "The Taco Plaza is more than just a place to enjoy delicious food; it's a space where our community can celebrate its rich cultural diversity. I am proud of this initiative that will bring people together and contribute to the growth of our vibrant neighborhood."
