In 1972, a diverse group of community leaders in Sacramento recognized the growing Hispanic population and its economic impact. In response, they founded the Mexican American Chamber of Commerce. The organization's mission was to promote business, industry, and culture within the Hispanic community, while also fostering collaboration between Spanish-speaking businesses and local government.

Initially experiencing slow growth, the Chamber expanded its reach and influence throughout the 1980s. To reflect the community's evolving demographics, the organization was renamed the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SACHCC) in 1984-85. The 1990s marked a period of significant growth and stability for the SACHCC, as it focused on enhancing member services and refining its organizational structure.

The SACHCC’s success is attributed to the dedication of its board members, members, volunteers, and supporters. Today, the Chamber remains committed to promoting business growth for its members and facilitating access to the Hispanic market.
