Wednesday, August 27, 2008 - SHCC Staff Becomes First Hispanic Chamber to Attend Academy.
The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has always strived to advance the economic and educational welfare of the community. Recently, we became the first Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ever to ever attend Academy, a professional development program presented by the Western Association of Chamber Executives. Their goal is to empower participants by training them on chamber management fundamentals such as Revenue Development, Budgeting and Cutting Edge Technology. The entire SHCC staff attended this event, learned the vital tools necessary to further the success of the SHCC, and is now looking forward to applying the lessons learned from Academy into improving the Sacramento region.

Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to Benefit from Senate’s Budget Resolution. Approval of $101 Million Increases Small Business Programs Starting in 2009
Sacramento, CA (June 9, 2008)— The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SHCC) is celebrating the Senate’s recent Budget Resolution that supports $101 million in additional funding for small business programs. Under the leadership of John Kerry (D-Mass) and Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine), the resolution was signed last week and provides increased funding for Small Business Development Centers, Women’s Business Centers, microloans, contracting assistance, veteran’s outreach programs, technical assistance programs and increased loan oversight while reducing oversight fees paid by lenders.

Monday, June 2, 2008 - SHCC's Joe Serna, Jr. Scholarship Prgram was an overwhelming success!
At this year's dinner, the SHCC awarded 53 Sacramento area minority students scholarships, totaling $54,500.
We’re so happy to celebrate the accomplishments of 53 high achieving local students by awarding scholarship money to help them pay for their college education,” said Diana Borroel, President/CEO of the SHCC. “At the SHCC we believe the youth are our future. That’s why each year we work to raise a significant amount of money for local students. We’re very proud to be the region’s biggest provider or minority scholarships—but even prouder of our recipients success and achievements.”
The Joe Serna, Jr. Scholarship Program has been in existance for over 15 years and is the Sacramento region's largest provider of minority scholarships, rewarding over 400 students with more than $575,000 over the last nine years.
